1012 and 1024 Power Supplies
RCI's filtered and regulated 10 Series DC Power Supplies are
designed with safety and reliability in mind, especially when it
comes to electromagnetic locks. FPD models incorporate many life
safety features required by the National Building Code such as fire
panel disconnect, instant unlock upon power failure and remote
override reset capabilities for authorized personnel.
Standard features include universal knock-outs and built-in
battery charging circuits.
Applications

• To power Access Control Systems
• To power Electric Locking Systems

| Filtered DC Output |
If the DC voltage is not filtered, the result will be reduced
holding force or intermittent buzzing or humming. Most electronic
equipment requires a filtered (clean) input to ensure reliable
operation. |
√ |
√ |
√ |
| Regulated DC Output |
The DC output voltage will remain constant with changes in load
(resistance). |
√ |
√ |
√ |
| Adjustable Output Voltage |
The DC output is adjustable to compensate for line loss that
can be encountered in long wire runs. |
√ |
√ |
√ |
Short Circuit
Protection |
Short circuit protection is provided by both a Fuse (located on
the printed circuit of the power supply), and a short circuit
protection relay. In the event of a short circuit between the
positive and negative output of the power supply, the short circuit
relay will de-activate, opening its contacts, removing power to the
electric locking device. The fuse provides back-up protection to
the relay. |
√ |
√ |
√ |
| Fuse Protection |
The power supply has a backup fast blow fuse located on the
Printed Circuit Board. |
√ |
√ |

Fire Panel
Disconnect* |
Provision is made for fire panel disconnect. |
- |
- |
- |
| Instant Unlock Upon Power Failure* |
Magnetic locks will release instantly upon failure of AC power
source. |
√ |
√ |
- |
| Manual Override Output* |
Provision is made for a manual override output connections on
the terminal block located inside the power supply housing. This
switch disconnects the DC voltage from the output when the switch
is opened. |
√ |
√ |
- |
| Reset Switch* |
The FPD-2 has a momentary action reset switch installed on the
cover. This switch can be paralleled with a remote reset switch.
The purpose of the reset switch is to reset the short circuit and
DC power output relay located in the power supply housing. The
FPD-1 has reset input. |
√ |
√ |
| Built-In Battery Charger |
The built in battery charger has a low battery disconnect to
prevent deep discharge of backup batteries. Automatic switch-over
to battery in the event of an AC power failure. With FPD-1 and
FPD-2, the fire alarm panel will disconnect the batteries to allow
instant release in the event of a fire. |

√ |

Power Lamp
Indicator |
A green DC power indicator lamp is mounted on the FPD-2 cover,
to show the presence of DC voltage on the output. The FPD-1 and
NR-1 have a green AC input power indicator lamp mounted on the
cover. |

OPTIONS
TD1........... Time Delay option - Delayed Unlock - Manual
Relock, NFPA-101 (15 Sec. Delay)
TD2........... Time Delay option - Delayed Unlock -
Auto-Relock
This two stage time delay option provides the same function as the
TD1, only, instead of manual relock, the door locks again
automatically after the specified (adjustable) period of time.
TD3........... Time Delay option - Instant Unlock - Delayed
Auto-Relock
Upon actuation of a momentary switch (e.g. push button, key
switch, keypad) the door unlocks immediately and automatically
relocks after a preset (adjustable) period of time has elapsed.
TD4........... Time Delay option - 3 Second Nuisance Delay -
Manual Relock
